What is Arjumano?
Arjumano is a Filipino Martial Arts system developed by Punong Guro (equivalent rank of sensei) Jojo LaTorre. Key aspects of Arjumano's philosophy include the following:
- Training for self-defense: Although sparring is done at the end of every training session and we occasionally compete in tournaments, the main goal of Arjumano is to train for self-defense. This means that training is more focused on "what works" in a real life situation.
- Drilling over technique: Arjumano focuses more on continual drilling and application of a set number of techniques. The idea is that, once confronted with a life-or-death situation, a person would muscle memory and swift, effective execution to successfully defend herself/himself.
- Keeping an open mind: When it comes to techniques from other martial arts (MMA, boxing, etc), we keep an open mind and would incorporate them into our training. In fact, many of our techniques for empty hand and grappling are heavily influenced by karate, judo and jiujitsu.
Training Schedule
We train every Sunday at GymPlus Fitness Center, 3F Starmall Alabang.
Morning Training: 10am to 12nn
